DAP To Announce Its List Of Candidates Over The Weekend

SIBU, March 31 (Bernama) -- The DAP will announce its list of 15 candidates for the Sarawak election over the weekend.

State chairman Wong Ho said today that party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng would announce the five candidates for the southern zone at the DAP headquarters in Kuching on Saturday.

The candidates for the central and northern regions would be announced here the following day.

Wong, who is the Bukit Assek incumbent, and three potential DAP candidates collected nomination forms at the district office here.

The trio are David Wong for Pelawan and two newcomers Alice Lau, a pharmacist, who is expected to be fielded in Bawang Assan, and lawyer Yap Hoi Liong, believed to be for Dudong.

Wong declined to comment when asked if he would move to Pelawan. "We are here to collect five forms which we all know can be used state-wide," he said.

He said the DAP had resolved the seat allocation issue with Parti Keadilan Rakyat and PAS.

The party and PKR had overlapping claims on Dudong, which has now been allocated to the DAP.

As for the overlapping claims of PKR and SNAP, Wong said that talks were ongoing.

"It is very important that they talk, decide and agree as, after all, we are all facing one common enemy, the Barisan Nasional," he said.

Wong said the deadline for resolving the issue was nomination day, April 6.

Polling day is April 16.
