DAP Says May 13 Rally In Kuala Terengganu Insensitive

SIBU, May 12 (Bernama) -- The DAP wants Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and the Malaysian Cabinet to denounce plans by a right wing non-governmental organisation to hold a mammoth rally in Kuala Terengganu Thursday.

DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang said the rally which coincides with the 41st anniversary of the racial riots that happened in the country on May 13, 1969 was extremely insensitive.

"In line with the 1Malaysia concept, the Prime Minister should take a stand against all forms of extremism and intolerance," he told reporters here Wednesday.

Lim said he had sent Open Tweets (on the Internet's Twitter facility) to the Cabinet on the matter this morning and hoped that Najib would have good news for Malaysians on the matter after today's Cabinet meeting.
