DAP's share of the non-Chiense support in the 2011 Sarawak State Election
The 2011 Sarawak State election was a historic election in that it was the first time in more than 20 years in which the opposition managed to achieve a double digit representation in the state assembly by winning 15 out of 71 seats (or 21% of total seats), not including the one independent who won the seat of Pelagus.
The DAP emerged as the biggest winner by winning 12 out of the 15 seats which it contested in.
While the DAP could not have achieved this win without the overwhelming support of the urban voters, it would be a mistake to say that DAP’s support was only present among the Chinese voters. In many of the seats in which DAP contested in which had a significant percentage of non-Chinese voters, the DAP managed to win at least 30% of the vote among the non-Chinese voters. In some of these seats, the DAP far exceeded the 30% mark among the non-Chinese voters.

Is Najib becoming another Pak Lah - a Prime Minister whose writ does not run in UMNO?
The question many are asking is whether the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is becoming another Pak Lah, the fifth Prime Minister whose writ did not run in Umno although he was also Umno President ending in his ignominious exit as Umno chief and prime minister.
This question has become more pronounced after Najib’s meek and completely unacceptable stance over Utusan Malaysia’s “1Melayu, 1Bumi” call.
Najib’s tame excuse is that the “1Melayu, 1Bumi” call was made by a columnist of a local daily and was the personal opinion of the writer concerned.

MCA leaders' failure to condemn Utusan Malaysia's racist
It's been two days since the recalcitrant UMNO-owned Utusan Malaysia fanned the flames of racial disunity by calling for a 1Melayu, 1Bumi movement to battle the so-called Chinese challenge to Malay dominance in Malaysia, and yet, MCA leaders are still conspicuously silent on the matter.
The only reported statement by MCA on the matter is a quote of MCA Vice-President Liow Tiong Lai saying, "Utusan cannot generalise the whole thing. It has nothing to do with race. It has more to do with the urban needs and the rural needs." (Source: http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/mca-sarawak-chinese-voted-on-urban-rural-lines-not-race/ )

Mingguan rasis gesa hukum pengundi Cina Sarawak

Victory Speech by Wong Ho Leng
Fellow Sarawakians. Today is a milestone in our long struggle for change. Pakatan Rakyat has successfully won 15 seats, nearly doubling our representation in the State Assembly. This result is a clear and bold message to the BN Government. The people have declared in no uncertain terms that we want change.
Judging from the results state-wide and the spectacular defeat of SUPP President and Deputy Chief Minister George Chan, it is now clearly untenable for Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud to remain in power. The people of Sarawak have effectively delivered a vote of no confidence to the leadership of the Chief Minister.
If he chooses to cling on to power, he will be openly defying the wishes of the people.
Today, Sarawakians have come out in a show of force to vote against corruption, cronyism and abuse of power. Today, Sarawakians have rejected elitist politics and irresponsible governance. Today, Sarawakians have stood up and demanded a government that is competent, accountable and transparent.
No longer will the people accept lip service and false promises. No longer will the people accept leaders that enrich themselves at the expense of the people.
The results today are a strong indication of the desire for immediate change. The needs of the people must be looked after. Sarawakians now expect the government to deliver comprehensive reform programmes that will directly benefit the people.
Sarawakians now demand:
The people have spoken, and the message is clear. Change, or be changed.

Sarawakians now demand:
- Greater and fairer distribution of its natural resources. We want oil royalty to be increased from 5% to 20%.
- Land issues to be resolved immediately. We want transparency in land alienation and a swift solution to Native Customary Rights issues.
- Equal opportunities in employment and business. We want an open tender system to replace the monopolistic practice currently in place.
- Fundamental infrastructural needs have to be addressed. We want proper roads, clean water, electricity and greater internet penetration, especially in the rural areas.
- We also want educational opportunities to be available to every Sarawakian child across the state.
The people have spoken, and the message is clear. Change, or be changed.

Will Mahathir be proven right that Taib could be another Wan Mokhtar?
Can former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad be proven right when he cryptically advised Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud to “learn from history” in deciding when to step down, citing the case of “one MB who insisted he should continue, and lost the whole state”?
Mahathir was of course referring to the case of Tan Sri Wan Mokhtar Ahmad who was Mentri Besar of Terengganu for 25 years from 1974 to 1999 and was ignominiously evicted from office when Barisan Nasional suffered an electoral rout of 4 – 28 state assembly seats to PAS in the 1999 general elections.

Wind of Change blowing strong and hard in Sarawak –Sarawakians should write “416” in golden letters on Saturday as latest addition to the political lexicon of numbers of “520”, “308” and ”516” as powerful symbols in the quest for political change in Malaysia
The wind of change is blowing strong and hard in Sarawak. In Kuching, Sibu, Bintangor, Sarikei, Bintulu and particularly Miri as well as all over the state, there can be no mistaking the deep and powerful yearning of the Sarawakians for political change.

BN’s Plan to build New Sri Aman Hospital, 15 years on and the empty promise and posturing continues!
In a despicable act of pure political opportunism and desperation, the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak added to the 15 year long, litany of broken BN promises to the people of Sri Aman, by announcing that a new Sri Aman hospital worth RM200 million will be completed in 2013. All this, the PM did in a mere 30 minute press conference-cum-visit, forgetting that the good people of Sri Aman had to endure incalculable suffering and the needless loss of human lives over the last 15 years of BN neglect.
This is clear proof that BN has not and will not change the politics of corruption and vote-buying through “election goodies”, that the BN /Taib administration has been practicing for the last 40 years.
The PM, alongside Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai and SUPP candidate, Francis Harden, have added further insult to injury, blind to the demands of ordinary Sri Aman folk for fairness and decency, particularly in the case of access to healthcare.

Guan Eng janjikan kaum Dayak dana RM1 bilion

It’s the people versus Barisan Nasional
Today marks the fifth day of the Sarawak election campaign, with another five more days to go before polling takes place on 16th April 2011. Over the past four days of campaigning, the DAP and Pakatan Rakyat were received with enthusiasm and unprecedented crowds. From Sibu to Sarikei, the tremendous groundswell of support has demonstrated the most encouraging indications as yet.
But now, this state election campaign has entered an entirely different phase with Prime Minister Najib Razak taking over the reins from Sarawak Chief Minister Taib Mahmud. With Najib joining the fray, this now morphs into an election of national proportions – with the entire Federal Cabinet and government machinery at Barisan Nasional’s disposal.

Miri leads in forefront for political change in Sarawak’s 10th general elections
For first time in 48-year history, Miri leads in forefront for political change in Sarawak’s 10th general elections
In the past 48 years, it was either Kuching or Sibu which led the state in political change.
This is now different. For the first time in Sarawak’s 48-year history, Miri is leading in the forefront for political change in Sarawak’s 10th general elections as evident in the DAP ceramahs in the past four nights – with unprecedented increasing crowds, public support as well as public donations every night.
Miri is now the cynosure of Sarawak and Malaysia – in the very frontline for political change in Sarawak and Malaysia and all eyes are on Miri on polling day on April 16.

Rakyat Limbang mahu doktor pakar, bukannya van jenazah!

Cabar Wong Soon Koh Tunjukkan Bukti!
